I'd like to apologise for my lack of blog posts recently. Life has become exceptionally busy- but, luckily, busy for all the right reasons. I've been interning at several publications which is not only incredibly exciting for me but also means that my career is heading in the right direction. My next stop is InStyle- I can't wait to learn, build and grow within their team.

Although this is an exciting period, it means that the majority of my time is now taken up with working, eating and sleeping, leaving me with only small, fleeting moments to include the other things that I love. This has meant, unfortunately, that blogging has taken a backseat.

I'm hoping that as my career continues to bloom, in turn does this blog...

KERR COMEBACK

It's been a while since I've blogged; mainly due to the overwhelming amount of university work I've had to endure in my final year (and my laptop gracing me with a blank black screen...) But, now I'm done...and I'm ready to blog again.

One of the main editorials that has caught my eye this month is Miranda Kerr's July 2013 Vogue Korea shoot. Photographed by Eric Guillemain, the editorial encapsulates the idea of fresh faced summer street style  with a sport inspired twist. It's good to see Kerr back in the game after a stint of mainly small campaigns. This editorial proves just how versatile the Australian beauty is.

DOING THE ROUNDS

A weekly roundup of all the great things that I've came across. Hopefully, this will become a weekly routine for me (probably not) and it'll mean that I'll be able to share some of my favorite things and interests.

1) My friend tweeted about this article (which itself is mind boggling) which led me to this blog and all the great things on it. So many amazing stories about the world that we live in. http://www.messynessychic.com/2012/05/09/the-paris-time-capsule-apartment/

2) In an effort to eat healthier, I've been looking to blogs for food inspiration. This one ticks all the boxes. Definitely ordering her cookery book in the near future. Plus, how loved up she and her husband are just makes me smile. http://www.sproutedkitchen.com/

3) Newly bookmarked...the news at a glance. You can pick the country that you need to know about and voila, the news at your fingertips. http://www.newsola.com/#/uk/

4) I love everything about this blog and her children are adorable. http://awelltraveledwoman.com/

LOUIS LOUIS

I'm in shoe heaven. These Louis Vuitton pre fall pumps are my new 'must haves'. Granted, I'm unlikely to have them any time soon but they're still something to lust after and long for. The all black are my go to...I still can't get my head around the idea of a white heel no matter how hard I try. It's still more 'crack whore', less 'chic' to me. Anyway...imagine these babies in your wardrobe.

THOUGHT OF THE DAY

Some friendships die, but it doesn't mean they weren't beautiful and true.

I came across a blog earlier today with a post about friendship and felt that many of the pointers were true...probably true of us all. Friendship is important. It's vital to nurture the ones that are still growing and let go of ones that have died.

I hope it inspires and enlightens you as it has me.

SUN DRENCHED DREAMS

Having recently booked a holiday to Tunisia, I've been dreaming of sun-drenched beaches and long, warm nights. These images encapsulate everything I'm hoping for and more...

WHO LIKES SHORT SKORTS...

The last time I donned a skort I was around the age of eight and heading off to Brownies. Back then the 'skort' that I was styling wasn't exactly the most glamorous of wardrobe items. Murky brown in colour, ill fitting and made of a horrible synthetic fabric that had the tendency to electrocute anyone that touched it. I wish I had a picture...(Brownie badges and all)

Anyway, jokes and memories aside, the multi-functional piece is making a comeback. Recently, I've noticed an influx of garments online that are described as a skort...but look like a skirt. It had me fooled for a minute but on closer inspection I realised that this S/S phenomenon was actually a re-modified version of my old school Brownie uniform. No longer ill fitting, no longer made of hideous fabrics in sick-like colours, the new skort is a practical alternative to a skirt. I mean, who doesn't want to wear a pair of shorts and a skirt at the same time? I'm sold.

MODEL CRUSH: ONDRIA HARDIN

Only 16 and Ondria Hardin is captivating the fashion industry. At such a tender age, the North Carolina beauty has already walked for Marc Jacobs, starred in a Prada campaign and caused controversy with her Numero shoot entitled 'African Queen'. I'm in love with her ability to look perplexed, charismatic and sad all at the same time. She's got that grungy edge thing going on yet she's able to look innocent and soften her look on demand. It's not surprising that she's making the headlines...

GOING THROUGH CHANGES

Spring is a time for change. 'Spring cleaning' is known as the yearly ritual of cleaning out your home from top to bottom...but how about spring cleaning your life? A new mindset and a new approach to things can sometimes be just what you need to turn a situation on its head. Spring is about the transition from Winter to Summer, it's the stepping stone to something better...

THE DIETARY DEMON

The above is my kryptonite. I'm not talking a slice of bread here and there with some soup or cheeky slice of toast for breakfast. No, no. I mean, I'm obsessed. For those that know me, you're aware that I could happily polish off a loaf of bread and butter and still want more. There's something about bread, be it the totally processed crap like Warburton's (the orange packet my personal fave) or a freshly baked, home-made batch; I'm completely hooked.

After visiting France last September with a group of friends, I felt that I'd eaten enough carbohydrates (mainly in the form of breaded goods) to last me a life time and beyond. I came back to England a changed woman. Full of ambition and commitment to cutting bread out of my diet completely. Instantly, I felt so much better. Less lethargic, full of life, I even felt fuller for longer after meals. But alas, this new found determination to kick the habit lasted around a month, leaving me disappointed at my regressed state but oh so happy to have the bready deliciousness back in my life.

Albeit, reverting back to my bready pal was a bad decision. Hands up, I'll admit, it's bad. So now, a few months after my slip up, I'm planning to try again. And this time I'm hoping it's for good. I read somewhere that some psychologists have noted that giving up bread is comparable to an addict giving up heroin. The withdrawals are so great because our body is desperately craving the sugar that we've subjected it to through our binge bread-ing. So, basically, I'm going to be like a crack addict for the next few weeks until I've managed to wean myself off of the demon dough.

This evening I'm heading to an Italian restaurant to celebrate a friends birthday. My plan is to stuff myself with so many carbs that I never want to look at another for as long as I live....

SPRING IN MY STEP

Today is the first day in a while that it actually feels like it's becoming Spring. After a trying and arduous week of snow, rain and bitter temperatures, it's nice to see a bit of sun and a (patchy) blue sky. Summer always gets me re-excited about my wardrobe. Every year I decide that it's time to change up my style, become more sophisticated with my summer ensembles. I hate how the majority of English dress in summer. For the women it's all short short short's, vest tops and sandals and for the men it's camo shorts and flip flops- neither of these looks are good ones and it gives us English a bad name in the fashion stakes. Anyway, enough ranting.

I've been trawling the web trying to discover pieces that I think say 'summer chic'. I want to be channelling pencil skirts, fitted dresses and a sturdy sandal, whilst mixing it up with the odd floaty piece and of course, there'll be a micro short thrown in there...I am English after all.

BALENCIAGA A/W 2013

Alexander Wang's greatly anticipated début for Balenciaga was a spectacular achievement. I'll elaborate on the full collection at a later date. But, for now, I'll say that these courts are the most beautiful that I've seen in a while. An intricate blend of high fashion and sex appeal with a classic twist. The perfect modern staple. I need them, and I need them now.
